System Coordinator “Shaine”
Hello Shaine! Tell us a little about yourself first.
Hi, My name is Shaine. I just turned 30 last January and have a seven year old son. I am a big fan of BTS, and yes, I am part of the army! I love watching Kdramas and listening to Korean songs. In fact I listen to it every night. On normal days I enjoy grocery shopping with my son in the mornings, preparing him for school and his lunch before I bring him to school and his Tutor. On Saturdays I usually sleep the whole day and on Sundays I spend time with my family, usually go to church, grocery shopping and watching Kdrama as bonding with the family. I am happy with what we have and how I am able to spend more time with my family.
What was your profession before you became a VA?
I earned a college diploma in business management, with a focus on marketing and office management. I used to work in marketing and sales. This was a real estate company which I was a part of. I marketed tools, advertisements and introduced products and designs. In addition I also created blogs and videos. I also taught English as a second language to Koreans back then. When my son was born I was in need of more finances and for that reason I went and started working in a BPO company which had a pay bump. This was in the year 2021, I started as technical support. I was able to move up fast, from three months of training and regularization and a promotion in 6 months to be a senior representative handling a small team. After three months I got promoted again as a supervisor. I also was starting to work from home during this time.
How is your IVA PRO Experience?
When I first applied in IVA PRO, my knowledge was only in tech support. When I was interviewed by Miss Crysta and got introduced to my client I did not know much about IT. IVA was the reason I had the drive to learn more and excel at my current job and became a systems administrator. It started with creating emails to clients. I inserted some creative ideas and it worked out well. I did not only stop learning from IT but marketing as well, combining them together as a service coordinator, I do what I can to help with my client.
Working in IVA gave me work life balance. This is the only job where I experienced joy while working. I do not waste time just waiting for the weekend like my previous job. I enjoy the process and the progress of my journey. It is not just mine to tread but by everyone in my team. Everyone is approachable and we are open to say anything so you are not afraid or discouraged to ask questions. There is a feeling of calmness with everyone including the management. This is in comparison to my previous job where I was not feeling well and got Covid. They even asked me to take calls. Unlike in IVA if you just inform them you are not feeling well, they will ask you to log out and get some rest without further questions. Sometimes I feel ashamed because I do not feel that bad and just say that I can still manage working. IVA is like a family, they do not treat you as employees but as part of their family.

Any message to future aspiring VA’s?
Do not stop. It is difficult to find a client and an agency. Offers are also sometimes low so if you find one stick with it and learn more. It is also okay to fail a few times but continue to persevere. Eventually you will find that which is for you. You have to work for that achievement so do not give up. Tuloy lang, Laban lang!
